There are 43 state parks in the State of Utah, and I have decided that I need to see them all. Ambitious I know, but we recently knocked out 3 more parks.
First up, the Territorial Statehouse, did you know our State capital was in Filmore for a while? This is an amazing building and is only a quarter of the size it was suppose to be (see above picture with me pretending to be a Japanesse monster, aka zilla or Susan, coming to smash the building). The two of us decided to dance in the assembly hall on the top floor.
Fremont State park is so full of stuff to see, we just scratched the surface. Loads of petroglyphs and ancient Fremont Indian ruins. They have a nice vistors center (bathrooms: very clean), and fun interactive displays like the replica of a pit house. Camping is available too, I would probably do this because otherwise there is too much to see, but still great if you are just passing by.
Camp Floyd is a great little diversion and only about an hour from SLC. They have re-enactments on some weekends, which we didn't catch, but still cool to see the place. I guess I was asleep when I was in my Utah studies class when I was 13, but I had no idea that there was a Utah War. This is where the U.S military was stationed, most of the fort has been destroyed but still some stuff was preserved. Look as this giant tree! Imagine the stories it could tell.
Well, I love our State Parks they some of the coolest places ever. I hope that more people will get out and see them. Not one of these parks cost more than $10. You can't even see a movie for that much. 9 down 34 more to go.
