Omniscient Municipality

We have this really great apple tree in our backyard, the only problem is it likes to grow into our power lines. Our City has a program if you call they will come take a look and then trim if necessary. Well our tree was at it again so the other day I called our City and this is how it went,

City Worker (CW): This is your city how can I help you?

Me: Yes, I need to speak to someone in the tree triming progam.

CW: I can help you with that, we'll come take a look.

Me: Okay, do you need my address?

CW: Nope.

Me: (not understanding) you don't need my adress?

CW: We know where all the apple trees are in the City.

Me : (somewhat stupified) umm.... Okay

CW: Can I help you with anything else.

Me: I don't think so.

CW: Have a good day, Goodbye.

Impressive right. I just wished they had the power when it came to plowing the streets in the Winter, "Don't worry, we know all the streets that need plowing"

Liquid Nails

Some of you may have not had much experience with liquid nails before; it's this REALLY sticky kind of glue/caulk stuff, and I mean it's REALLY sticky and pretty much permanent.

I was using liquid nails to apply a metal plate to some cement (trying to cover and old dryer hole in the side of our house). It was easy enough, if you paid attention. My problem is I wasn't paying attention. The metal plate I was holding against the wall slid a little and my fingers went right into the glue. No, I didn't glue my fingers together! I did however glue my finger nails to my fingers, at least for 30 minutes. I know what you are thinking, 'you're finger nails are already attached', which I would reply 'yes, but not to the very top of your nails'. So it made things interesting for awhile, but it eventually came off.

The Treehouse

This summer we have had a lot of fun at the Treehouse.

We had a great time with our "Cousins" (sorry no good pics from that trip)

We invited a friend and her family from work and had a picnic

Then we invited this crazy bunch up to stay with us.

B &E and the fantastic four had a great time at the treehouse and didn't want to leave.

(I look totally photoshopped in the picture above, where are my legs?)

Then our friends from the U.K. came and stayed as well.

The treehouse is something special and I'm sure blessed to have a Dad who is creative and a genius. Thanks Dad we love the Treehouse

Oh what do you do in the summertime....

Oh what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is green

You go to girls camp

Where you learn a new rap

(they came up with this after a fireside about standards)

And you don't sleep at all for a week... is that what you do? So do I.

Oh what do you do in the summertime, when it's about to rain

Go to outdoor concerts in the park

And tear your house all apart, and put it together again!

Is that what you do? So do I.

Tennis

I have always liked tennis; it is one of my favorites for sure. I like to play it and I like to watch it. But recently I've found that watching gives me a self esteem boost. I could say it's the athletes inspiring stories, of the fantastic play on the court, but really it's mainly the commercials that make me feel better about myself.

There are investment firms advertising for my millions (ha!), they show me the latests model of BMW, Jaguar or some other luxury auto, they show me who I can contact to hire my own private jet, and the newest in electronics. They think I'm a high ranking buisness offical and loaded with money! Ha! if they only knew.

Thanks for the compliment though.

Water, water everywhere and.....

I like rain, I really do, but lately rain/snow and I, well....., we aren't talking anymore. M and I were having a very nice Memorial day seeing family and going to the cemetery. I told M lets just chill the rest of the day. He was going to read his book, I was going to take a nap; what bliss. We parted ways and then within moments he is back upstairs looking for his nasty work pants. I thought this strange; I don't usually change my clothes, let alone into nasty work clothes, just to read a book, so I inquired.

He then told me that the window wells were filling up with water and about to get to the windows. M and I are not really pet people, so we decided that the aquariums would have to go. So we both changed found some buckets and then started bailing water. I'm sure the cute little widow that lives across the street from us was having a jolly good time watching me run around the house throwing buckets of water on our front lawn.

We got it done and M used his super genius powers to rig up some sump pumps he got at the store and some PVC pipe. (P.S sump pumps hard to find because of all the flooding, so says the store clerk) Crisis averted and no water actually got in our basement, which we are totally blessed for. I'm just ready for everything to dry out though, I think our poor yard is even turning "pruney" from all the water.
