Brothers and theme songs

It has been a recent discussion with my brothers that the Harry Potter theme song and the Little Rascals theme song are the same with the exception of the Harry Potter theme song being in a minor key. So since we can never manage to keep either tune in our heads, here is an a compare and contrast moment.

So what do you think, same or totally different?

Broadway Fun

M and I went and saw the Lion King the other weekend. It was so good. I wish that I had been feeling better though to fully enjoy it. But it was still fantastic.
M took me out to eat in SLC, which was very fun, and then we saw the play. The puppet/costumes were so cool. I don't know how people come up with this kind of stuff. My favorite parts were the very beginning when the animals come to pride rock, and when the wildabeasts stampede. It was so fun, some of the animals came right past us down the aisle. There was a baby elephant that had the cutest little girl as the puppeteer. M loved the big giraffes that walked across the stage. It was also very cool when Mufasa comes back in the sky to talk to Simba, I don't know how they did it, but it was cool. Simba is talking to the monkey and the background is all sparkly and then all of a sudden the sparkly pieces start to move and the next thing you know there is this giant lion's head. It was cool.
It was so much fun, and I'm so glad that M spoiled me and took me to see it.

More Celtic Fun

M and I went to Logan for another Celtic Festival and Highland games.
This was a pretty low key event. No pipe band competitions or highland dancing, but they had some highland games and some interesting demonstrations as seen below

This is called a live steel demonstration. Real swords (tips were blunted), armor, and shields. Apparently there are rules that they use, but I'm was too interested in the demo to hear the guy explaining what they were doing.

Here is some video; if you listen carefully and turn up your volume you can hear a little kid next to us saying/moaning "They're going to die"

The also had a fun train to ride on (for free) and a sheep dog demonstration. (I think this particular dog is still learning (see picture), but it was still fun to watch).

It was a nice to get out and see all these fun events. Thanks to M for putting up with my weird hobbies and interests.

Treehouse

We went and stayed at the treehouse over the 24th of July weekend. It was very quiet and relaxing. We saw lots of bunnies and enjoyed watching my brothers fancy fish

It was nice to just chill. It seems like life has been so busy with girls/scout camps that it was nice to get away. Thanks Dad for building such and awesome place to go!

Pipes

They have arrived

I have had my pipes for almost a month now, and this picture was taken when I just got them. I'm not holding them correctly and the bag is not even a little full. But I was so excited I made M take a picture of me anyway (this picture is not so good, the first one was better but it was kind of dark). As far as playing a tune on them, I haven't got there yet. It takes a knack to keep the pressure just right and I haven't yet mastered that, but with some persistance I will get it. As soon as I can play a tune I'll take some video and post it. But I'm guessing another couple months before that will happen.

Girls Camp

Our ward went to Girls Camp a few weeks back, up near Logan. It was a really nice camp. The girls (and myself) weren't very excited about the pit toilets, but we survived. We went on hike and the wildflowers were just in season. It was so beautiful.

While on the hike, one of our leaders was complaining that the only wildlife we had seen was millions of chipmunks and some birds, she wanted to see at least a deer. Just then we turned a corner on the hike and saw these two bull moose. She was shocked and delighted. The camp was a big success and everyone had a good time.

The Fourth

We went to M's brother's house for the celebration of the Fourth of July. The had a lovely barbecue and the worlds coolest firework show. I had heard how awesome the fireworks were but it was something you had to see in person to understand just how good they really were. He even had music that was choreographed with his awesome professional fireworks. Once again I forgot to bring my camera, which is a shame because the whole evening was excellent. My niece from Seattle even came along for part of the evening. Another fun thing that night was he rented some Segways' (the two wheeled kind of scooter things) for people to ride around the neighborhood. Those are so much fun. A little unnerving at first but so much fun. It was just one of the nicest Fourth's we've had in some time. It was a lovely night and fun and excitement all around.
